A year on from the inaugural World Hydrogen + Ammonia Shipping Forum, we are returning to the virtual stage to evaluate progress towards decarbonizing the sector. What new strategies by governments and ports are successfully ramping up the hydrogen and ammonia transition to meet the EU's 2050 targets?

This short, two-day webinar will focus on hydrogen and ammonia within the shipping sector and will allow attendees the chance to hear in-depth discussions on the economics, supply, and technology issues specific to these fuels, as well as the latest case study projects from leading shipping stakeholders and their efforts for approaching the transition to a zero-emission maritime economy.

This online event is split over two days.

Day 1: Wednesday 15th December 2021 | 10:00 AM - 11:35 am CET

Day 2: Thursday 16th December 2021 | 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM CET

10:25 - 11:35 CET - Panel: Evaluating the Future of Hydrogen & Ammonia in the Shipping Sector

  • Addressing the regulatory questions around the retrofitting of hydrogen fuelled vessels: navigating the challenges of the alternative design process, and understanding the draft rules and consistency needed to accelerate the deployment of hydrogen vessels

  • Discussing the standardisation necessary within ports to facilitate the bunkering of hydrogen through the logistics, availability of permits, and infrastructure required to ease this transition

  • With the cost of technology expected to go down in the long-term, what short-term challenges still exist around the financing of vessel retrofitting and the wider infrastructure, and who within the industry is going to pay?

  • Debating the role of green ammonia versus green hydrogen as a future fuel for deep-sea shipping

  • Understanding the recent announcements and pledges from COP26: How this will impact the speed of progress and what lies ahead for the future of hydrogen and ammonia in shipping
