Agenda

Day 1: Wednesday 26 January 2022

14:35 CET - Welcome Remarks by Event Organiser

14:40 - 15:00 CET - Hydrogen for mobility – only a case for heavy duty and long distance or is the potential for passenger vehicles underestimated?

  • Potential limits / barriers for pure electrification

  • Advantages for hydrogen cars / light vessels / medium range planes

  • What about hydrogen derivatives such as synthetic fuels, methanol, ammonia?

  • De-centralized project example supporting the required HRS network

Christian Pho Duc, Managing Director H2 Projects, Smartenergy

15:00 - 16:15 CET - Panel: How to solve the chicken & egg mobility problem

This keynote panel will assess the role of clean hydrogen in the existing mobility landscape, and ask what strategies and tactics are needed to solve the H2 mobility puzzle. The panel will look at several factors, including:

  • Production: Exploring the current and expected supply of low carbon hydrogen – how strong will the demand for fossil-free hydrogen be across the different aspects of the mobility sector (buses, trucks, rail, inland shipping), and will this demand be met with adequate supply?

  • Infrastructure: Addressing the need for major developments in the wider mobility infrastructure, such as hydrogen distribution for refuelling stations – what are the stumbling blocks for progress and how can the entire value chain work together to overcome these?

  • Policies & Regulations: Outlining the mechanisms and packages urgently needed to stimulate the development of a vibrant hydrogen mobility landscape, and the standardisation needed across the sector to align the value chain

  • Finance & Investment: Who’s investing in what and where? Examining what investment is needed for all the above to happen, and how to build the business case for your mobility projects
